This means we are dedicated to pursuing practices that support environmental preservation, engage with communities for social good, and foster economic development that benefits all stakeholders. Here are some ways we intertwine our business goals with sustainable initiatives—paving the way for a brighter, greener future.
Environmental stewardship
Our world is our home, and if we take care of it, it takes care of us. We made an intentional decision to be a fully-remote company since our founding, and by doing so, we’ve eliminated a major source of carbon: our employee’s commute.
A deeper look on the daily commute
There are around 251 working days in 2024, and the national average of commute miles for Americans is 41 miles/day round trip. Assuming each team member (currently 62) travels 41 miles each day 251 days each year, that’s 638,042 miles traveled—like circling the Earth more than 25 times!
Our commitment to a fully remote work model significantly reduces environmental impact by eliminating the need for daily commutes, thereby maintaining a substantially smaller carbon footprint than that of conventional office-based operations.
Minimizing waste and recycling
While operating remotely presents unique challenges, we’re actively exploring innovative ways to minimize waste and promote recycling among our team members.
Top 5 ways we’re minimizing waste:
- All human resources onboarding and support is paperless, from direct deposit to tax forms.
- Team members bring their own devices to work, reducing the need for additional devices for work and home.
- When new devices need to be purchased, we recommend Lenovo products and align with their net-zero sustainability efforts.
- We encourage responsible disposal and recycling of old electronics through e-waste recycling programs like those available through Best Buy, Staples, and the EPA.
- All our document storage is cloud-based.
Our employees are active partners.
On our business development team, Monica shares, “I go paperless whenever possible. I use digital documents, e-signing, and cloud storage to reduce paper waste.” From the marketing team, Cassandra leads with this approach: “When possible, I use natural light versus artificial light! I keep my at-home office positioned by a window to use natural light. This cuts down on power usage.”
Our philanthropic approach to environmental impact
Trees for the Future
But even as a fully-remote company, we also use servers and take flights. To offset this, we do our best to choose the most direct flights for events and support organizations like Trees for the Future. As of October 4, 2024, Bloom Growth has helped plant 47,950 trees through our partnership with Trees for the Future, and we intend to help plant event more! We’re not only helping to heal the environment but also supporting impoverished farmers in revitalizing degraded lands.
DarkSky International
We’ve partnered with DarkSky International, whose mission is to restore the nighttime environment and protect communities from the harmful effects of light pollution through outreach, advocacy, and conservation. Partnering with this organization is one more way that we’re helping protect and heal the environment. We’d encourage you to review some of their resources, like this blog on responsible outdoor lighting, to take a simple step towards making a difference.
Zero-waste product
Waste reduction is in our DNA at Bloom Growth. As a SaaS (Software as a Service) company, our product is accessible from any internet-connected device, eliminating the need for physical installation. This web-based approach makes our software a zero-waste product—there’s no packaging or physical by-products. It’s just one more way we’re contributing to a net-zero future by reducing physical waste globally.
Community engagement
Sustainability is more than just environmental practices—it’s about supporting communities and driving positive change. From matching donations to organizations like the Arbor Day Foundation and the Malala Fund, to partnering with Dogs, Inc. to provide guide dogs for people with vision loss, service dogs for veterans, and companion dogs for those in need of a helping paw, we’re committed to making a meaningful impact.
Simply stated—we’re dedicated to making a difference beyond our own operations, and we invite you to get involved with one of our philanthropic campaigns. You can donate via our links which are found on our press and events page.
Company culture
Our company culture aligns with sustainability by prioritizing employee well-being and work-life balance. By offering unlimited paid time off and continuing education opportunities, we empower our team members to prioritize self-care and personal development, reducing the risk of burnout and promoting long-term sustainability in their professional lives.
The photos below were shared by team members. Some were taken during PTO, while others were captured on a typical weekend. Our team enjoys the flexibility to take time off as needed and work from anywhere in the world.
A deeper commitment
Our commitment to sustainability goes beyond environmental initiatives—it’s woven into the fabric of who we are as a company. Bloom Growth is passionate about creating a better future for all, one possibility at a time.
Join us on our journey toward a more sustainable future. Together, we can make a difference.
